More progress on the engine bay!
The engine bay is fully shaved! The upper radiator support is also done. The hole on the passenger side will have a neat little fabricated device that also has functionality.
Rear suspension going in!
Undercoating!!!
Undercoating!!! I used 3M rubberized undercoating. It has asphalt within it, and is a really good sound deadening alternative to the super heavy interior sound deadening material, plus it's great against rust! I used about 5 cans of the stuff to make sure i had great coverage throughout. Now she's ready to see some stuff bolted back on to it!
Front bumper and intercooler
I started work on the front bumper. The intercooler needs to be boxed in, and the factory bumper is blocking some of the air, thus decreasing efficiency. The intercooler mounting brackets were made and welded to the lower radiator support. The upper radiator support also got all unused holes filled/brazed smooth.
More body work
The primer is mostly done and I bolted the bumper on to the car. Gas door bolted in.
About to take the car outside to primer the interior.
Rear quarter panel needing just a little massage
Rear bumper key hole needs to be filled!
The rear bumper hole has been filled and smoothed out.
Shaving the engine bay
The next area I needed to see tackled was the engine bay. Filling all unnecessary holes and removing all unnecessary studs. This will definitely help clean up the look of the engine bay after paint! We brazed the holes with brass again, so they won't rust and also increases the rigidity of the body work. This makes it to where i won't have to worry about the filler cracking or anything.
Hood repairs
The process begins with the repairs on the hood. The car was in a massive hail storm and made the car look like a golf ball! Good ole' Colorado weather.
Body work started!
Up next is the process of body work, including filling, sanding, filling more, sanding more, rust removal, brazing, and also the first guide coats. There were many hours put in to the roof alone as the previous person who was welding up the drip rails didn't take his time to let things cool, and that really warped the roof. Now the metal is straight!
